Declared as the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Amber Fort is an attractive melange of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Located in craggy hills, the fort is made up of red sandstone and white marble. The magnificence and splendour of the fort lures the visitors who get spellbound with the exquisite carvings adorned with precious stones and mirrors. The presence of serene Maota Lake adds more to the magnificence of the palace.
The fort brings the royalty of the erstwhile era live with the splen-did structures which stand in the form of Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience), Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace) and Diwan-e-Aam (Hall of Public Audience). All of them bespeak the stories of the glorious past of Amer. The landscaped lush green garden is yet another fascinating attraction of the Amber Fort. The large ramparts of the fort, its artistic style, the series of gates and cobbled paths mesmerise visitors with their pristine beauty. The Rajput ruler Raja Man Singh built this fort in the 16th century. Flipping through the history pages, one finds Man Singh as the most trusted general of Emperor Akbar who was among his navratnas in the royal court.
